Law Enforcement Request Policy
Last updated May 11, 2026
GeoKiks takes **privacy** and **freedom of expression** seriously and responds to law enforcement requests in accordance with **applicable law**. This policy describes our general practices and limitations. **Nothing here promises more than the law requires.**
1.Overview
GeoKiks may disclose information to law enforcement or government agencies when required by law or when we have a good-faith belief disclosure is necessary to protect vital interests consistent with legal obligations.
2.Valid legal process required
Requests must be addressed to the correct legal entity, include sufficient identifiers, specify the legal authority, and be issued by a competent authority. Generic or overbroad requests may be rejected or narrowed.
3.Emergency disclosure requests
Where permitted by law, we may disclose limited information in good faith to address an emergency involving imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to a person. Requests should come from official channels and include verifiable facts; we may still require follow-up legal process when appropriate.
4.Preservation requests
Where legally permitted, we may preserve specified account records for a limited period pending valid legal process. Preservation does not guarantee retention beyond legal requirements if multiple obligations conflict.
5.User notice where legally permitted
Unless prohibited or delayed by statute, court order, or genuine investigative need, we may notify affected users of requests for their information so they may seek relief, consistent with applicable law.
6.International requests
International authorities should use applicable mutual legal assistance treaties, letters rogatory, or other recognized channels. We may reject requests that violate applicable law or international norms.
7.Data availability limitations
We may not retain certain records; deleted accounts may be irrecoverable after retention periods. Technical logs may roll off. We do not guarantee availability of any specific dataset.
